2022 GSDEF GOLF TOURNEY NETS $14,500

(LUMBER CITY) - The 16th annual Glendale Education Foundation Golf Tournament was held June 10, 2022 at Eagles Ridge Golf Course.  In an exciting team scramble format, two foursomes tied with low scores of 58—and a “scorecard playoff” went to the fifth tiebreaker hole for the team of Brett Miller, Bucky Miller, Dan Holes, and Rick Holes to be declared winners of the “Snyder Cup”---narrowly defeating the second-place team of Rich Metzger, Justin Ohler, Curt Mellon and Mark Emery.

Proximity winners were:  Long Drives – Josh Norris (Fairway #1), Bucky Miller (#18); Longest Putts – Mark Emmery (Hole #3), Vance Kimberly (#7) and James Sawyer (#15); Closest to the Pin – Matt Pajonk  (Hole #17); and Closest 2nd Shot– Nick Ninosky (Hole #9) and Christian Kuhn (Hole #11).

Glendale Education Foundation golf tournament director Richard Snyder, overseeing his final golf tournament pending his retirement at year’s end, reported  that a new record profit of over $14,500 in net proceeds was achieved for the 16th consecutive year.  “I am still overwhelmed by the generosity by one hundred of our golfers who come out and participate in on-course games and purchased thousands of raffle tickets for baskets, 50/50 and large items donated by WalMart Distribution Center,” Snyder stated,   “Combined with over 130 tournament sponsors made up of local businesses, organizations, alumni and individuals who have donated 80% of our profit total this year!  Knowing the community like I do, I really shouldn’t be amazed…as many donors continually dig deep when it comes to supporting the children of Glendale through our Foundation.  We use this golf outing--our largest annual fundraiser--to help subsidize learning opportunities and reward academic success for the students of Glendale School District.”

Foundation president Rick Holes announced that this golf event was dedicated in memory of two friends of the Foundation who participated in the outing over the years--Mike Vereshack and Mark Harpster—both of whom we lost last year.
