Sponsor a Program
You'll notice when you click on our ALLOCATIONS page, we expend $17,000 a year on average to fund NINE separate annual programs--ranging in budgets from $200 to $10,000 per year. If you'd like to assuage our Foundation's overall cost by agreeing to sponsor any or all of these great academic programs for local children--let us know and you're name (or corporate sponsor's name...) will be acknowledged in a media article and/or in the school district newsletter articles!
...OR...
Maybe you'd like to "sponsor" your own special program, like two of our noted former Glendale High School alumni, to benefit our students on two different levels in the last year.
The first program is funded by Mr. Joe Tiesi. Joe has written a few books and certainly knows the value of children having a good literacy background--having actually assisted younger children learn reading this way. Glendale Elementary School reading specialist, Mrs. Patty Kimberly, came up with a great plan for Kindergarten students and their parents to learn about phonological awareness, that Joe has already funded in two $1,000 endowments to purchase related books. *Click on EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY PROGRAM under our "Allocations" for details about the first year success.
Our second benefactor is Mr. Edward Turchick, Jr., now of Minnesota, who reached out to vice-president Bill Morrison and executive director on ways he could help "give back" to the current Glendale students. After coming up with suggestions for unifying diversity projects, and potential computer-oriented trainings, Ed is now ready to establish working with a family member who works with the University of Pittsburgh to develop on-line courses. One course she has taught is on "Personal Finance", so hopefully our Glendale High School business students will have the opportunity to experience this course in their "finance" class! This is still in the works....but stay tuned!
Hopefully, with as many talented and generous alumni that have passed through Glendale, we hopefully have generated an interest in YOU "giving back" in some manner to our current students!
